papers is based on the relevancy of subject matter and
originality of thoughts, concepts or solutions. There are
four categories of awards: (1) Operations, (2) Bachelors,
(3) Masters and (4) Ph.D. with prizes of $1,000, $500 and
$250 in each category.
The WEF Undergraduate Student Paper Competition is intended to promote the education of undergraduate students in water
pollution control, water quality problems, water-related concerns, hazardous wastes or related areas. It also is intended to
provide an opportunity for national recognition of undergraduate students. Further details on the WEF Student Paper
Competition can be viewed online at http://www.wef.org/MemberAssoc/MbrAssocProg/studentactivities.jhtml
The CSWEA Public Education Section Chair will select the best paper from their state. Out of these top three papers, the
CSWEA Public Education Committee Chair and each Section Chair will then select the best paper and submit it to WEF for the
national Student Paper Competition.
The winner from each state will have his/her travel and expenses to the CSWEA annual conference subsidized by CSWEA.
The winner from the CSWEA region will have their paper published in Wisillminn (CSWEA Magazine), and his/her participation in
the national conference (WEFTEC) will be subsidized by CSWEA.
